My Skin Care Routine

This post was originally written in 2015. Most of my skin care routine has stayed the same, but in order to save a little $$ I've tried skipping step numbers 1, 3, & 4, and replacing 5 with Vaseline Intensive Care Body Lotion, Essential Healing 10 oz*(affiliate links) mainly because I had a huge bottle of it and so I was saving my usual $46. The jury is still out on whether or not I'll go back to my the Lancome one listed below, but I probably will. It doesn't have sunscreen it it, and I'll be needing that soon. Also, I can't believe I've stopped using my toner - my skin used to crave that as soon as I got out of the shower. I always wondered if it was a needed step, but thought I'd try to get my skin un-addicted to it. I do miss it in general, but if you're looking to save money too, I don't think it is a must.

I still love my Clarisonic*! This one linked isn't the color of the one I have, but the same model. It isn't best to use everyday, but it's nice for a deep clean once a week - like a mini facial!

My main takeaways - wash your face at least once a day with a good face wash and moisturize. We do have great skin genes in our family, but it's still not something I want to mess with.

Even before I was allowed to wear make-up, I loved make-up! Momma's rule was that my sister + I could start wearing make-up the summer before freshman year of high school. My sister started two years before me + I was so jealous. In middle school, Momma bought us face wash so we could get used to taking good care of our skin. At first it was just Clean & Clear or Neutrogena from the grocery and that was perfect since we weren't wearing any make-up at the time.

Oh the summer of 2004!!
I could hardly wait for school to be out because I knew that summer I would get the full make-over treatment!!!

(if you follow me on instagram, there are plenty of pre-make-up #TBT posts haha).

Momma had researched the best make-up line for young skin + took each of us to a mall in Georgia with our aunt to the Clinique counter.

Y'all, that might have been one of my most favorite days in my whole life. Not even joking!

To this day, my sister + I still use mostly Clinique with some Lancome mixed in. We have great genes in our family + coupling that with great skin care, we both get a lot of compliments on our skin.

Ladies it is SO important to take care of your skin!
I will admit, I don't wash my make-up off at night any longer - but the professionals say you should!

So here are my every day products!
And they're in the order that I use them.

  1.  Clinique Rinse Off Foaming Cleanser, 5 Ounce; $20.00*
  2. Clinique > Liquid Facial Soap (in mild) $17.00
  3. Lancome > Bi-Facil Eye Make-Up Remover $39.00
  4. (the one in the photo is for sensitive eyes, but I've linked to my regular one)
  5.  Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2, 6.7 Ounce; $19.50*
  6. Lancome > Bienfait Multi-Vital w/ SPF 30 $46.00

Clinique has a great 3-step skin care based on your skin type. I'm a 2, but definitely go get a make-over and have them tell you what is best for your skin. I stopped using Clinique's moisturizer in high-school at the recommendation of my sister who had already swapped to Lancome. Clinique has re-vamped their moisturizer, but I just don't want to change my routine. Clinique is more affordable than Lancome, so I would suggest starting there if you're looking to change your routine up a bit.

Sometimes I'll replace 1 + 2 with Neutrogena face wipes* on the go, but 4 + 5 are a MUST every day!!

I also have a Clarisonic Mia 2* that I use a couple of times a month. I LOVE how deeply it cleans my face and still being gentle at the same time!
What are some of your MUST haves? I'd love it if you left your favorites in the comments below!
