2018 Christmas Gift Guide
I wasn’t sure if I was going to do a gift guide this year, but when I polled my IG friends, you all voted yes! This is going to be a mix of gifts and my favorite products and it will contain some affiliate links marked with * which just means the company pays me a little bit, not you.
Gifts that give back
Humanity and Hope Gift Guide
I work with Humanity and Hope United and we have some cool partnerships this holiday season! You can check out all of them here, but I’m going to put these Kendra Scott earrings on my list!
Rosalynne Love
A sweet friend of mine in Atlanta, Rosalynne, owns a shop called Rosalynne Love. She has the cutest mugs and t-shirts around. Part of each sale goes to supporting children all around the world, which obviously I love! So make sure to check out her stuff and get your orders in early!
Noonday Collection
I had Noonday on my list from last year but you can never go wrong with buying their products. I have been so tempted to become a full ambassador and sell the jewelry as well, but for now I’ll point you to Anna Hogan’s page and let you support her and all the artisans Noonday partners with!
Generous Coffee Subscription
Any of the products on their site actually give back to Humanity and Hope, and I put this on my gift guide last year. However, this year they have a subscription, so I’m putting a 3-month subscription on my wish-list! I personally order the Honduran, but they’re all pretty great!
Gifts I love
Dustmade Jewelry
I met Anna in college and instantly fell in love with her jewelry years ago. In 2016 & 2017 I had my Word of the Year put on her pieces. (I’m thinking of doing another giveaway when I hit 1k on Instagram!). I have pretty much worn my circle “ABIDE” necklace everyday for the past 2 years. My 2016 word was “ROOTED” and was on the hammered copper bar. I didn’t have one made in 2018 because I couldn’t decide which style to go with and then got a tattoo that embodied my 2018 word “BRAVE”. I’m starting to plan for my 2019 and I’m thinking of a custom cuff for next year. Check out all of her amazing designs over at Dustmade.
The Barn at Post Oak
I met Morgan Cox at a local networking meeting and my brain instantly started turning when she said she made custom candles. After working in Anthro for 2 years, I knew the importance of having a shop signature scent (so spoiler - Katharine Marie Weddings has it’s own scent she custom made!). If you’re looking for an extra touch and want something not in stores everywhere, head to her shop and order your candles. Please note, her shop is down as of the time I’m writing this, but it should be back up soon - she’s just getting ready for #smallbusinesssaturday!
Powersheets and Simplified Planners
Okay, I can’t do a gift guide without talking about my favorite two things! These are both affiliate links, and they’re having amazing deals, so hurry hurry hurry!! Shop Powersheets* and Simplified Planners* before they sell out. I ordered the Pink Powersheets and the Watercolor Floral Daily Planner. Cultivate has already started their Black Friday sales on the Powersheets and Simplified will start theirs on Thanksgiving Day at 7pEST.
Personal Things I love
Y’all asked for some of my favorite self-care items so here we are!
Mario Badescu Products
I started using these back in February when Anthro discontinued the other face products I was using. Buzzfeed had also done an article about products all 20-30yo should be using and this brand was mentioned. My fellow Anthro girls also highly recommended them so now I’m recommending them to you! I was a little nervous about the price of the moisturizer for the size, but I’ve only bought 2 so far this year, so I’m pretty pleased with it. I washed the empty moisturizer bottle out and use it as my travel face wash bottle.
These are affiliate links and I use Amazon Smile to support H&H.
Enzyme Cleansing Gel*
Oil Free Moisturizer*
Rose Hips Mask* (I try to use 2x a week)
Batiste Dry Shampoo
A few months back I did a test with several brands of dry shampoo*. This is by far my favorite! And you can’t go wrong with a 3pack - home, car, office. You can get this pretty much anywhere and Target has the small travel size which has been so great for me this year.
Chi Liquid Gold Straightener
This comes with a hefty price tag, but I got it as a Christmas present years ago (like maybe 2010 or 2011..) and it still works! I feel like in the next year or so I’ll be needing a new one, but I love it! I have thick hair, and have used large paddle straighteners in the past, but this one* just works for me (I do have to use it on the hottest setting, hahah!). I have also used it to add some beach waves to my hair.
Conair Instant Heat Curling Iron; 1-inch Curling Iron
Speaking of waves, I swear by this curling iron*. And I just realized the other day, my Momma used the same one for years. I don’t know how long I’ve had this one, but the key to my curls is that I use this as a wand, but its all the same width. I’ve used a wand with a tapered end, and I didn’t like the curls it created. My clip has since popped off, but I don’t mind since I really just use it as a wand!
French Press & Coffee Grinder
If you’ve got a coffee lover, grab these and a bag of Generous Coffee for the perfect gift! I love my Bodum French Press* (Christmas 2010!) and freshly ground coffee is best for a french press*. My aunt gave me both of these back in 2010 and although I’ve misplaced my grinder somewhere in Atlanta, I did love this one because the bowl is removable. My new one doesn’t have a removable bowl and it is harder to clean/use.
Gifts I Want
These are a few things I’m asking for in addition to a few things mentioned above!
Faux Fur Slides
Okay, someone PLEASEEEEE get me these for Christmas, haha! I’ve seen several bloggers with them and I really think I’d love them too!
Bath Tray
So I’m not asking for this exact tray, actually I’ve asked my sister and her husband to custom build me one because this style won’t work for my tub. But if you’re all about a little self-care, get you one of these so you can binge in the bubbles!
Rosetta Stone
Okay, I did pay attention to Spanish in high school and college, but I need some major refresher since I’m volunteering with Humanity and Hope and we work in Honduras. I think it is important to be a lifelong learner, and since French and Italian are on my bucket list to learn, I figured I’d give the Spanish version a try first.
I am sorry I don’t have any guy stuff on this list, but they may enjoy the coffee stuff and you can still order the items from last year.
