2017: August Recap + September Goals #powersheetscheckin
August Goals
Monthly
Plan / Host a Community Night
This didn’t go quite as I had thought. My roommates wanted to host a cookout and I was obviously all for it and even said so in our big group text. The next day I realized I wouldn’t even be in town that weekend hahah! But in redemption, my parents’ house was located right near the centerline of totality for the eclipse. We had a few local friends over and then a few friends drove up from Atlanta to view it. It was so cool leading up to the minute of totality when a cloud came and covered it! So we didn’t get to see the main event! We still had so much fun hanging out and I loved having some ATL friends meet my hometown friends.
Get Passport
Remember when I said this needed to be done ASAP. Did not get this one done. #movetoSeptember
OTF (all 8)
As of this post, I’ve accomplished 4 of the 8. I have until Monday to do the other four and that’s not going to happen. The biggest thing is that I’m still going and haven’t quit yet, so that’s a plus! I’m hoping to get 1-2 in for this week.
Weekly
Create & Maintain My Business "Laundry List" / Marketing
I didn’t re-write mine each week, but I feel pretty good about what I was able to accomplish marketing-wise in August. 4 blog posts, a few newsletters and even some videos!
Monday Prayers
One week this got moved to Tuesday, but I was 3-for-5 on this one. I tend to realize the weeks where I’m stressed, I don’t want to journal out my feelings, but really, those are the weeks I need to the most!
Budget Checkins
Definitely getting better at checking my budget before spending. Not 100% on track with my goals, but keeping them front and center is key!
One Note to a Friend
Whyyyyyy can I not get this one done. I’ve decided to move my notecards to a more prominent place on my desk so I see them every week. #movetoSeptember
OTF (2x)
See above, also #movetoSeptember
Meal Prep
This one can be hard to judge because I’ve come to realize, I’ll make like a huge pot of spaghetti and then eat it the rest of the week, so I’d say I did pretty good with this, but I still ate out some too.
Daily
Bible Study - I got off track a few days this month, but ended the study right on time!
Lemon Water - I would say this was a 50/50 thing in August. It definitely helps weight-wise and keeping that metabolism going, so it will be a personal goal again #movetoSeptember
Vitamins - definitely a hit-or-miss. Since I eat so randomly, I need to find a better place to keep my vitamins so I’ll see them every day.
Clean Kitchen - I think I did a great job of this in August, but you should probably ask my roommates! haha
No Extra Spending! - this also went pretty well this month. Again, having weekly budget checks keeps the spending in check.
September Goals
Since I’ve been officially running TSWa full time for a year now, I really want to start focusing on my business goals. So moving forward I’ll include some personal goals, but mainly business ones.
Monthly
Client Gifts
I’ve been okay in the past about getting out client gifts, but as I grow, I want this to be streamlined. I have 7 I need to get out this month. 2 are from the summer months, 1 is a year anniversary client (wahoo!) and 4 are newer clients.
Finish Courses
I purchased 2 courses last year that I really need to finish. I’ve started them both and implemented what I learned, but I don’t think you can ever learn enough. Plus, you can always learn something new the second go-round, and I don’t want those courses to feel like a waste of my money.
Systems
Speaking of client gifts, I’ve got a few systems I want to smooth out. As I grow, I might invest in a program like Honeybook or Dubsado, but right now, I just need to outline my systems on paper and then in Trello. Nothing is more frustrating for myself or clients to spend time going back-n-forth via email. Hello, canned responses!!
Weekly
Blog
My goal this month is at least one blog a week. This fits into the whole laundry list of things that need to get done each week, but I’m breaking it out as a specific goal. For September, my theme will be around how I left my day job, and what this first year in business has been like. I’m really excited to go through this part of my business and share it with you!
Video
You may have noticed that I’ve been using YouTube a bit here and there. Well, I hired Jess over at easypeasystudio.com to help with editing them. Which also means more accountability for getting them recorded and out to y’all!
Social Briefs
I’m still looking for the best day to email those on my list, but I think I just need to pick a day and be consistent. I’ll be mixing up my content a little bit thanks to this post by Abby Herman over on Reina’s site, so hopefully you won’t find my newsletters boring :-)
Daily
Social Media Scheduling
Again, this goes back to setting up my weekly schedule right, but I definitely see growth and engagement when I post to FB, Twitter, and IG regularly. It’s not always about the numbers, but they definitely don’t hurt the business!
Social Media Boundaries
Now, I’m not saying that I’ll be giving up my phone all the time, but just like at a day job, we’ve got things to do and we all know how time-warping social media can be. So I’m going back to my roots of checking, commenting, posting only at 3 intervals of a common work day:
AM - everyone arrives to the office and chit-chats around the coffee pot,
NOON - when we’re all on a lunch break
PM - headed out, happy hour time
Social Media Engagement
My business girl crush, Rosemary Watson, asked us in her Facebook group, what we would commit to time-wise for engaging with others on social media. If you caught my blog and video last week, you know that I think this is one way to build genuine relationships online. So my goal is 3x a day - morning, noon, and night - same as above! Drop your IG handle below so I can come say hey!!
What are your business goals this month? I’d love to know what you’re working on and don’t forget your IG handle!!
