One of the things I use in my own business and and when working with clients is what I like to call a “content framework”. You may call it a content map or plan but essentially it is a content publishing schedule for your business - what your audience sees and when. It can change (and has for me!) over time or get put on the back burner (oops!) but it is also one of the most helpful things you can write out for your business. I will be creating one for my case study, which you can read more about here.
Read MoreI know what needs to be done, but sometimes working on your own stuff is hard. This series will be me mentally separating my two businesses and coaching myself through my own process. I’m really excited to show you how I coach and to see where we end up in three months! So let’s get started…
Read MoreI have absolutely no clue where September went. Like did I sleep through it or something?!? You’ll notice I actually didn’t accomplish a few goals, and I wrote a post about how to bounce back from unmet goals.
Read MoreI haven't done one of these all year as I was doing them on video and didn't include a full blog with them. This spring was crazy busy with travel (Israel in March, Honduras and NYC in April) and then moving in May/June. During this time, I focused mainly on making sure my clients were well taken care of and didn't leave much time for my own business. And you know what happens, if you've been here a while...its 3 months after the fact and I can see the implications of my lack of marketing (social, blogging, emails, etc). It was finally time for me to get back in the game and I obviously used my powersheets to help hold me accountable. I'll be including business and some personal goals (as I feel comfortable sharing).
Read MoreSetting goals has been huge for my business. I plan on doing more results focused blogs in 2018, but am giving you a glimpse into how November went and what's in store for December!
Read MoreSeptember was a crazy busy month! Maybe in 2018, I'll start adding some financial & client breakdowns. You know how I always say "what you do now impacts your business in 3 months", well I invested in a 6 month marketing plan (since I ask others to invest in me, I figured I needed to do the same) and the end of August, I started seeing the results big time. That was a Thursday and the Monday before, I wrote in my journal "Lord, I will trust you with the finances of my business" and knew I needed to truly trust Him and keep working the plan. September was my biggest month, and October is slowing down a bit, but it is still rocking and rolling!
Read MoreIt's that time of the month for a #powersheets goals checkin! Come find out how I did on my August goals and see what's brewing for September.
Read MoreIt's been a year since I left my full time job to pursue this business full time...which is crazy to me. A lot of things have changed since last year, and that's exactly what should happen as a business grows. You should always have goals and take steps to move you forward, which means that there may come a time when you drop or add products and services that you offer. After over a year in business, I've come to realize what I love most about my little business and have chosen to focus my energy on that.
Read MoreI need to admit that I didn’t even write these goals until the 13th or 14th of the month. I was on vacation the first week and had every intention of doing my Powersheets in the mountains like in months past, but that just didn’t happen. There was a large part of me that wanted to just skip July’s pages, and jump to August. I’ve got a lot of ideas for August, but I also believe in laying a solid foundation, so I gave myself some grace (which I’m learning a lot about on multiple levels), got my favorite take-out, and started working through the July Powersheets.
Read MoreToday's post is all about how I'm implementing my Momma's laundry schedule into my business. Seems a bit odd, right? Well, my Momma was the queen of organization - with 4 kids 3 and under, she had to put systems into place in order not to go crazy. Her laundry system is just one of the many that we implemented to relieve the stress and overwhelm in our busy household. I want to share it with you so you can do the same in your business!
Read MoreI see people asking for VA recommendations in Facebook groups all the time. And it is so fun to watch businesses grow to the point where the solopreneur is ready to bring on help! But I also see these hundreds of responses to the initial post.
I get it - you need help in your business, right? Your first thought may be "I see a lot of people hiring Virtual Assistants, maybe that's who I need to hire." But I don't think a VA should always be your first hire.
Read MoreWhen I first left my 9-5 (only 6 months after launching my biz), I wondered how I would fill my days and if I would just always end up on Facebook or Instagram. For all of my client work, I used Toggl to track my time so I could see how long things took me and if I was undercharging for my services. The first week, I looked back at my tracker and wondered what I did with my other time not on client work.
You see, I was under the impression I still needed to be working 8 hours a day and have something to prove that I did. So I began time tracking myself as I wrote newsletters, hung out in Facebook groups, commented on Instagram, created blog content and graphics. I truly thought I would need to show my parents that I was still hustling just as hard as I had been and not just slacking off. But wasn't the whole point not to be working 40 hours a week or staying up late after the day job?
Read MoreSomeone told me once that the goal of Chick-fil-A is for you to spend 30 seconds or less in the drive-through once you’ve placed your order. Now we all know (well if you live in the South) there certain times a day, like breakfast and lunch, Chick-fil-A's line can get out the wahzoo crazy. They have implemented several changes to make the drive-through even faster at their busy times - they have someone take your order & take payment before you even get to the normal ordering station, or you can order on your phone - but I'm not getting into that all that detail today. What I want talk about is do you run your business like Chick-fil-A or Starbucks?
Read MoreWell I suppose as much as I talk about my Powersheets on Instagram, it was finally about time to write about them! I won't make the commitment to go back and do January - March, but it is a possibility. I use Powersheets for personal & business. But for this post, I'm mainly focusing on my business goals.
They are currently sold out of the full 2017 Planners and are taking pre-orders for 6 month planners.
Read MoreSocial media is a great tool to help us grow our business and following. But I know it can also be a huge detriment to my work if I don't handle it appropriately. How often do you get sidetracked by watching what others are doing in their businesses? I know I do several times a week and it can cause me to become discouraged in my own business.
Read MoreFor some business owners there is a clearly defined "slow" or "off" season in your business, am I right? That time of year when things come to a complete, or almost, halt. I know some of you may be thinking "ha, yea, right, there's no off season for me". | The Social Walker Agency
