Create Your Content Framework

One of the things I use in my own business and and when working with clients is what I like to call a “content framework”. You may call it a content map or plan but essentially it is a content publishing schedule for your business - what your audience sees and when. It can change (and has for me!) over time or get put on the back burner (oops!) but it is also one of the most helpful things you can write out for your business. I will be creating one for my case study, which you can read more about here.

January 2019 Goals

January was such a busy month for my other business, that I was hesitant to share how little I even set out to accomplish for The Social Walker, much less what I actually accomplished. But I’m all about being honest with myself about my goals and why I did/didn’t accomplish them, so I want to share them with you too!

My 2019 Word of the Year: Faithful

I started picking a word of the year back in 2015 unintentionally. At the end of 2014, I was in a dark place, for lack of a better word. God and I were talking through a whole bunch of stuff and it really felt like a light had gone out in my life. I remember driving home from work and thinking “God, I know one day, I’ll come on the other side of this and understand why I’ve been questioning and struggling with all of this, but right now I just don’t.”

Finding Balance is an Exercise in Prioritizing not a Juggling Act

We aren’t clowns so we don't have to live in a circus. Yes, our lives will always be busy (why do we always default to that description of our lives?), but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a sense of balance and normalcy to our lives.

In my opinion, getting your priorities in order helps balance out the scales of life and while creating routines allow you to function when life gets extra "busy". When you actually prioritize your commitments and items on your to-do lists, balance beings to become a reality.

2018: August Recap + September Goals #powersheets

I haven't done one of these all year as I was doing them on video and didn't include a full blog with them. This spring was crazy busy with travel (Israel in March, Honduras and NYC in April) and then moving in May/June. During this time, I focused mainly on making sure my clients were well taken care of and didn't leave much time for my own business. And you know what happens, if you've been here a while...its 3 months after the fact and I can see the implications of my lack of marketing (social, blogging, emails, etc). It was finally time for me to get back in the game and I obviously used my powersheets to help hold me accountable. I'll be including business and some personal goals (as I feel comfortable sharing).

Put Your Boss Pants On

Working for yourself at home can seem really exciting when you dread going into your day job. But ask anyone who currently works from home and you’ll discover that it’s not all champagne, roses, and cha-chings. Running a business takes a lot of work and it honestly doesn’t matter if you’re a business to business or a business to consumer model. There’s a lot of things around the house to distract you and a lack the accountability that comes from working in an office for someone else. This post is going to get a little saucy but also provide you with ways you can be successful at home.

Book Review: Imperfect Courage by Jessica Honegger

I’ve been following Noonday Collection for a few years now and even have a few pieces, including my favorite work bag*! If you don’t know what Until last year, I had never been on a book launch team, but I loved reading along with a group of thousands of women and discussing it. Pretty sure I need to start a book club IRL. I’ve always been a big reader, mainly historical fiction, but I decided a little while back that I need to include some “life” books too.

Birds and Burnout | learning to soar when you're exhausted

I recently started reading through the Bible, and remembered that last fall as I was doing the Seamless Study I had printed off my Great-grandmother’s (Mammaw) notes on Genesis. Momma had her Bible and went through typing up her notes - we have Genesis, Matthew, and Revelations. Some of her notes say where she got her ideas, and some don’t - I’ll do my best to give credit where it’s due. As I read through Genesis, I decided to use Mammaw’s notes (MN) as an extra commentary to what was in the Jesus Bible (JB), and my daily reading plan (DR). I won’t be doing a full dive like I did with Mark, but as I go and feel the Lord wanting me to share with you, I will! If you want quick thoughts along the way you can follow my tinycast over at Heart-to-Hearts on itunes.

So many of the notes from Mammaw are mind blowing, but this first one I’m sharing stopped me in my thoughts and after having some other thoughts brewing surrounding this for awhile now, I figured it was time to share.
